Back to Thailand - Main page

I travelled to Krabi during my second Thailand Trip... solo! I have no idea why I chose Krabi, but I feel very happy as I look back! This was an unforgettable experience.

P.S. I did NOT go there for hook-ups and I did not hookup with anybody. This isn't a justification, but writing this, because some people blatantly conjecture (and spread) rumors without knowing the person deeply.

Zabava Guest House, Ao Nang Beach, Krabi

Very good place to stay! Zabava means fun and amusement, and I really had fun staying here. I went to Krabi during my second / lone trip to Thailand in March 2014. Initially, I was planning to stay elsewhere (at a hotel having a swimming pool, and a private jacuzzi, however, my dates & plans changed, and I luckily bumped into Zabava Guest House on TripAdvisor - one of my most trusted sources for looking for hotels. All reviews of it were good, and it was available, so I booked it immediately. Here's one more good review of it
😊

ROOMS:
A refundable deposit of 500 baht was taken during Check-In.

I got the second floor's room number 203, which is the Starfish theme room😊 Equipped with all the basic necessities, a spacious room with a king-sized bed, a safety locker, a mini-fridge, a couch, and a sweet little cupboard. There was a small square table, but wish there were a little bigger table for eating or keeping my laptop. However, I used the same little table for the same. No complaints or flaws at all. The room was cleaned daily (basic cleaning, without towels change - which you can request at additional cost) and two complimentary bottles of water were given. Tea/coffee sachets with tea/coffee maker were ready.

Although we don't go out to watch TV - I mean, when we go out, that is an opportunity to stay away from phones, mobiles, computer, Internet, and Television, the fun part here was that since I didn't go out of the room after 8 PM (only because I was alone and didn't want to be out alone in the dark), I switched ON the TV to be surprised by a lovely channel called "film WORLD" on which they show Bollywood (Hindi) movies. Also, there are channels from all around the world, and some glimpses really show you some stuff worth learning from, especially to know how the other part of the world is.

High speed FREE Wi-Fi. Password provided within the room itself. Helped me connect with my well-wishers on Facebook and Twitter while I was idle. I was not on Instagram until this time.

There are programs (i.e. late night parties) going on in Krabi (Drink, Dance, and Dine kind) at public places regularly, so I heard loud cries, cheers, and door bangs late night. Being a 10 pm go-bedder, I woke up a couple of times.

STAFF:
A very friendly and polite girl named Jip welcomed me warmly.

COST:
Worth it

LOCATION:
At the Ao Nang beach, look for the Scuba Addict & Tattoo shops adjacent to each other on the main street. In between the two, a lane goes inside. Go in and look at the right, you will find it easily.
At a walkable distance of 20 seconds from the beach. Though this is not located on the front-side of the street, hardly any hotel is located on the front-side. This is in the second (i.e. inside) lane. I thought the location was perfect, and right in the center of the Ao Nang beach's street.

NEARBY:
Beach and lots and lots of shopping, stores, medical as well as general. Lots of massage parlors though I did not have any kind of massage during this entire Thailand trip of mine. Many vegetarian restaurants. The best way to move around is to hire a bike.

HOW TO REACH:
The easiest and the most cost-effective way is to take the Shuttle Bus from the Krabi Airport at 150 baht. Once you go to the Arrival point at the Airport, you will see ticket counters for this bus right in front of you. Why spend 600 baht for a cab/van when you can get there in 150 baht?

OVERALL:
Very very good guest house. Must visit. I may go there again when I plan my next trip to Krabi.

MISCELLANEOUS:
People at Krabi sell stuff for prices that just cross their minds. A simple necklace that should not even cost more than 20 baht was told at 500 baht during my elephant ride (video # 12) with a lady from Italy. The seller came down to 450 baht, the lady bargained it for 400 baht, and the seller made a face like as-if he's in loss, and sold it for 400 baht i.e. nearly 10 times its worth. A watermelon's packet (that costs 19 baht in Big C in Bangkok) was told to me for 50 baht. There were at least three instances in this Thailand trip when I saw people wasting money over things not worth it. No complaints. I am only recording my observations. They may help someone.
