Narcissism ruins your life experience

There is a difference between being 'focused on your life' and being 'self-centered'. The latter can be signs of a narcissistic personality. Having an excessive preoccupation with oneself and one's own needs, often at the expense of others.

While there are normal, healthy levels of narcissism, some extreme levels can exist in someone who is self-absorbed. This is a mental illness called Narcissistic personality disorder.

A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, or finances. People with narcissistic personality disorder may be generally unhappy and disappointed, and may get impatient or angry when they don't receive special recognition or treatment that they believe they deserve. They have a hard time interacting with others, and withdraw from or avoid situations in which they might fail. Due to this, they find their relationships troubled and unfulfilling, and other people may not enjoy being around them.

Narcissistic people are pretty good at pleasing others / making others happy. However, people who make others happy are not always narcissists. Here are a few key checkpoints:

• Wanting to feel important? Natural. Having an unreasonably high sense of self-importance? Not normal.

• Wanting to be admired? Natural. Requiring constant, excessive admiration, special treatment, and recognition? Not normal.

• Wanting appreciation on achieving something? Natural. Expecting to be recognized as superior even without achievements? Not normal.

• Telling your success stories to others? Natural. Being pompous, bloating, exaggerating your achievements, or feeling superior about your success? Not normal.

• Not being understood by others? Natural. Only need special people to be understood, or looking down upon others, or expecting special favors, or wanting to instruct without getting questioned? Not normal.

• Being preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate - Not normal.

Social Media products like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and others are often criticized for fueling such behavior among youngsters.

This is part of HPD (Histrionic Personality Disorder), of which hyper-sexualization is also a part, and you can read about all of this more on the Internet.

At first, you may feel like you have some of these traits. Don't worry, just like the Terminator says on trying to shoot him 🔫 DON'T DO THAT.😅 Now that this has touched you, just become more self-aware.
